SEATTLE – Sources close to the investigation into the murder of Seattle police officer Timothy Brenton tell KING 5 News they think they have narrowed down the make and model of the shooter's car.
It's a Datsun 210. They were only manufactured between 1980 and 1982, so there are very few still around.
Police have been interested in video taken by the dashcam of two or three different patrol cars making a routine traffic stops near the scene of the shooting on Halloween. On the video there is an image of a car that they believe to be a Datsun 210. It matches the description given by rookie officer Britt Sweeney, who survived the shooting.
The car on the video is also of interest because the driver was behaving in a suspicious way near the traffic stop.
Insiders stress this is not the only type of car they are looking for, but it is one of their leads.
